About Cubs

Cubs is the second section of the Scouting movement, originally started in 1916 for younger brothers who wanted a ‘look-in’. In nearly a century, the section has constantly evolved and adapted its programme and methods to meet the changing needs of each generation of young people.

Young people join Cubs when they are 8 years old and are expected to move on to Scouts when they are around 10 1/2 years old. Most of the activities form part of a badge requirement. This can be a challenge badge which forms part of our Balanced Program or an Activity Badge which is of interest to the young Cubs. Activity badges can also be earned through independent work outside of cubs or through other hobbies (eg swimming). During the 2 1/2 years that they in Cubs they are given the opportunity to complete the Challenge Badges and be awarded the Chief Scouts Silver Award.

We do a wide range of activities at Cubs including camping, cooking, map reading & trips. We also attend district events including the swimming gals, road safety and chess competitions.

We currently meet on a Wednesday & Thursday night between 6.30 – 8pm. Please contact us via the contact form on the home page or on 76 636480
