Welcome to the Beavers section of our website.

About Beaver Scouts

Beaver Scouts are the youngest section of the Scouting family. Their activities are based around making things, outdoor activities, playing games, going out on visits, investigating nature, learning how to be safe and most importantly, making new friends. Our activities include cooking, walks, learning how to light a fire & basic first aid skills. We also organise an annual family camp in the summer as well as at least one sleepover. These are often the first time a young person spends a night away from home. Taking part in sleepovers is an exciting time for our younger members as they build friendships, grow more confident, and gain valuable preparation for taking part in wider Scouting events.

We also aim to attend as many district events as possible which include sports day, 5 a side football and district sleepover.

Young people may join Beavers once they are 6 years old and are expected to move to Cubs when they are 8 years old. Most of the activities form part of a badge requirement. This can be a challenge badge which forms part of our Balanced Program or an Activity Badge which is of interest to the young Beavers. Activity badges can also be earned through independent work outside of Beavers or through other hobbies (eg swimming). During the 2 years that they are in Beavers they are given the opportunity to complete the 6 Challenge Badges and be awarded the Chief Scouts Bronze Award.

More information about the badges Beaver Scouts can earn, and the requirements for each badge, can be found here from the scouting HQ website.

We currently meet on a Monday & Tuesday between 6.30 – 7.30pm (Term time only). We are currently full however if you would like any more information or would like to add your child to our waiting list, please send us an email via the contact form on the home page.
